Bayou Boogaloo to charge $10 admission for the first time to cover city fee, organizers say

Bayou Boogaloo, the annual Mid-City music, food and arts festival scheduled for Friday-Sunday (May 17-19), will charge admission for the first time, according to a festival spokesperson. The fee of $10 per day or $20 for all three days was made necessary by “a radical increase in land use fees from the City of New Orleans,” according to the spokesman.

The 13th annual Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo festival takes place May 18-20 along the banks of Bayou St. John near the intersection of Orleans Avenue. The popular free fest will present continuous entertainment on four stages.

It was a case of Cupid’s arrow landing right on target. On Saturday (May 20) Lafayette’s zydeco rapper Cupid set out to break the previous 8-minute record for a “Cupid Shuffle” group line dance at Bayou Boogaloo.
