Friends of Bayou St. John
The non-profit producing Bayou Boogaloo

The Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo has enabled reinvestments in the community by planting trees, launching an anti-litter initiative, and becoming a valued partner to community groups that rely on the annual festival to generate exposure and raise funds for their programs. This year’s event will feature music on four stages, a comedy stage, a crawfish eating contest a curated arts market with over 60 regional artists, food from 30 local restaurants and caterers, and well as paddling, biking, and yoga activities.

The festival was the only one in the U.S. recently recognized by the international non-profit organization A Greener Festival (AGF) for its efforts to reduce environmental impact.

But we are more than Bayou Boogaloo. We strive to make our beloved Bayou St. John a healthy epicenter for the community. This year, Friends of Bayou St. John is rolling out new programming and projects focused on achieving the goal from our 2022 visioning study to create a more Connected, Healthy, and Beautiful Bayou!

In addition to continuing our regular programming like invasive species clean up and compost and programs focused on reducing littering and waste, we are happy to announce that we are expanding our programming goals to focus on environmental and ecological conservation education for the community, permanent and temporary arts projects, projects focused on celebrating the history of the Bayou and our community, and working toward beautifying and ecological projects.
