The Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo festival strives to be a "zero-waste event" by reducing the volume and toxicity of waste and materials, conserving and recovering all resources, and does not burn or bury waste. A zero-waste event reduces all discharges to land, water or air that may be a threat to the planet and its inhabitants.

Alternative Transportation for Bayou Boogaloo
In keeping with the Bayou Boogaloo’s ongoing efforts to be environmentally friendly, we encourage all attendees to come to the festival by means other than a motorized vehicle. You can take the Canal street car to Jefferson Davis and stroll up the Parkway to the foot of Bayou St John. Or better yet, ride your bicycle all the way to the festival and park it in the secured bike tent being provided by Bayou Bicycles. You could come by canoe, kayak or paddleboat and dock at the Dumaine Street stage or just keep paddling on to the heart of the festival at Orleans Avenue. If you must come by automobile please consider car pooling with friends since parking will be limited. Legal parking in the surrounding neighborhood is limited. Tickets can be issued throughout the weekend for failure to observe signage or the required distances from driveways, corners, and fire hydrants, as well as for parking against the flow of traffic. You'll be glad you used non-motorized transportation and so will our neighbors. We're looking forward to seeing your healthy and happy selves strolling to-and-through the festival.
